Card Writing Tips: Friendship, Thinking of You, Get Well Soon

This year I set a goal to write & send at least one Naomi Paper Co. card per week, and share which ones I’m sending along with some tips for writing in them! In February I sent a total of 7 cards, mostly friendship cards to my favorite “galentines” and one encouragement card to a friend struggling with chronic illness.

Here are the cards I sent and some writing tips for each one!

  1. Coffee Tastes Better Together Card

I sent a copy of this card to two different friends in February! Galentine’s Day was a great excuse to send this card, but it works great to send any time of year as a “thinking of you” or “I miss you” card. This card even prompted a coffee date get-together later that month!

Tip: This is a great card to slip in a gift card to a coffee shop inside and not pay any extra postage! Try choosing a local coffee shop you know they love or that you often go to together to make it extra thoughtful.

Locals: How perfect is this card paired with a gift card to Better Together Cafe?

Here are some potential prompts to use as you write inside this card:

“I pray some coffee shop get togethers and heart to hearts are in our future!
Time with you always fills my cup! (pun intended)
In the meantime I am praying for __________ and _________ for you”

2. Blessed to Have a Friend Like You Card

This card has been one of our fastest-selling cards perhaps of all time! It’s so beautiful, fun, and heartfelt and can be sent any time of year to encourage or thank some of your dearest friends in the Lord.

Here are some potential prompts to use as you write inside the card:

“Your friendship is such a blessing to me!

You are such a ________ and _______ friend, walking with me through ______ and ______ with love & kindness.

What I admire most about you is ______ and _______.”

3. Hang in There Card

*This one comes with a small caveat.* I sent this to a friend walking through flare-up in her chronic illness and waiting for her medication to kick in and do its job. This is more of a “cutesy” and lighthearted card, and chronic illness is obviously very heavy and hard to walk through, so this may not always be the best fit for the person you know. BUT knowing this person somewhat well, I knew she would love the sloth illustration and sentiment written inside. For others you may know walking through chronic illness, I might recommend sending our Seen, Supported, & Loved Card instead. Just consider the unique person and situation when you’re choosing which card to send!

Here’s what I wrote inside:
”I’m praying that you feel physical relief from this flare quickly, and that you’re able to find comfort in the Lord in the waiting. Hang in there, friend, I know the Lord is at work.

I’m happy to help you with [specific thing that might be hard now] or [specific thing that might be hard now]…”

I pray these prompts & tips are a help to you as you’re sending some snail mail love!
